A client of our firm was charged with solicitation of prostitution under Section 213 of the Criminal Code. Police officers intercepted our client after noticing that he had invited a prostitute into his automobile.
He had no criminal record and had led an exemplary life until now. Following the charges, he separated from his wife and lost contact with his eldest daughter. We demonstrated that our client was psychologically fragile at the time of the events.
We also demonstrated to the court that, if our client were to receive a criminal record, he would risk losing his job with the Canadian Armed Forces. The court accepted the evidence and considered that this was an isolated incident and that the evidence met the requirements under Section 730 CCC.
