A client of our firm facing two charges of simple assault and one charge of uttering threats in a domestic context receives an absolute discharge. After careful consideration, he decided to enter guilty pleas in the aim of receiving an absolute discharge. Working in the aviation field, our client had to travel to the United States and around the world to practice his profession. After demonstrating that it would be in his best interests to obtain a discharge, we demonstrated the steps he had taken since the date of his arrest and the impact that a conviction could have on him. Judging that the public interest would not be compromised, the court granted an absolute discharge in relation to the three counts.
